2015 Trifecta Russian River Pinot Noir
At the tail end of a 5 year drought in California the 2015 growing season was marked by a very early budbreak and warm spring. The weather was cooperating perfectly, however the vines were stressed from years of drought conditions so the clusters in 2015 were small and sparse. This low yield of grapes enjoyed nearly perfect growing conditions into the early fall leading to an early harvest of intensely flavored fruit.
Deep ruby color in the glass with aromas of dark, brambly boysenberry, raspberry, and candied cherry. Layers of sarsaparilla, allspice, earth, and cola back up the ripe fruit with a bit of cinnamon. Juicy and round fruit greets the palate dominated by ripe black cherry flavors. Rich and full on the mid-palate the soft and lush fruit tannins mingle with elegant caramel and baking spices of the French oak.
